Many mini pizzas

Tonight we baked 16 pizzas in our Earth Oven for a family gathering. My husband John built and stoked the fire and slipped each personally crafted pizza into the oven along with the wood fire.

Meanwhile, I was rolling dough (thanks to my son-in-law Jim for the recipe!), slicing and grating toppings, guiding the pizza making, and keeping a steady flow of plates and glasses ready.

The skies cleared in time for everyone to enjoy swimming in the river, biking on River Road, playing badminton and cornhole, relaxing around the campfire, and catching up with the lives of farflung relatives. We took turns holding baby Heidi and romping with two-year-old Hazel.

I chose these crescent earrings that I bought at the Namaste Center for Well-Being in Brookville, PA. I'd hoped to see tonight's waxing crescent moon, but it must have set past our horizon before the sky darkened and filled with stars. I'd also hoped that we'd feed our clan wood-fired pizza before the sun set. Success on that more important goal!

These earrings reminded me of orbs dangling in the air--pizza dough, pepperoni, tomato slices, fresh mozzarella... I juggled my way through this day, purple beads jiggling on my ears.
