Earrings for a 3rd Grade Play

Today was The Third Grade Play,  a double bill, two plays based on stories written by Russell Hoban: The Mole Family's Christmas and Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.

The children have been working hard for weeks to prepare for tonight, and their work paid off. The audience loved their performance.

I made a pair of Shrinky-Dink earrings to wear today by tracing Lillian Hoban's illustrations from the books on which the plays were based. This morning, my students kept announcing, "Emmet Otter! You have Emmet Otter on your earring! And Delbert Mole!"

Today was a very long day. I feel like I should be heading off for Christmas vacation. And I will. In 12 days, 8 school days. But who's counting?
